My husband gets up early , has breakfast about 8 AM then back to sleep . Sits down to watch tv is a asleep in no time he's frustrated and so am I . What could casuse that ?Why does my husband fall asleep every time he sits down ?
When a person sits or lays down their blood pressure drops. When they stand up, the blood pressure rises to keep blood going to the head.
If he is on blood thinners, has problems urinating, or is potentially anemic, you should consult a physician for diagnostic tests. Why does my husband fall asleep every time he sits down ?
Mine does too and it is frustrating. I agree though that it could be sleep apnea, watch him sleep at night, does he snore? Get up to use the can, broken sleep at night causes the problem you are talking about. He could have circadian rhythm disorder, which is a bugger, the brain has no sense of a sleep schedule. Is he depressed? Getting enough exercise? Actually going back to sleep in the morning after you have been up throws off the whole day, it is better to push through that urge to lay back down and eventually the urge goes away. I had a heck of a time with that, put the kids on bus, go back to bed, my day was shot, Now when i stay up the grogginess wears off. A huge breakfast that is loaded with carbs is notorious for putting people to sleep. A sleep study could pinpoint what is causing this problem. I would talk to a doctor about having one. One thing I will say is don't let some doctor slap him on anti-depressants without doing a complete work up, that is what they tend to do now.
How long does he sleep each night? If more than 8 hours and still sleepy...
If he is chubby, one possibility is that he has obstructive sleep apnea, which results in poor quality sleep during the night so he's really sleeping during the day. Chubby, loud snoring, and daytime sleepiness- ask your doctor if a sleep study is necessary to diagnose sleep apnea. Weight loss helps a lot.
Because he has nothing to do. my husband does the same thing. After eating his meal and then sitting in front of the tv, he passes out for a good 2-3 hours. It's just sheer laziness!!!
sometimes when people are depressed/stressed they tend to fall asleep easily (it takes them out of the situation so to speak) - or they are up in years and I guess that this is natural.
seen both cases
