Can you get pregnant after you had a tubal and your husband had a vasectomy?

This may seem crazy, but i had a tubal three years ago and my husband had a vasectomy 20 years ago. I am now wondering if I am pregnant. I have missed one period. I am eating like a horse, extremely tired, breasts are swollen and sore, stomach seems bloated....does anyone know of this happening?Can you get pregnant after you had a tubal and your husband had a vasectomy?

Yes, a vasectomy and a tubal ligation are not 100% effective. The only things that are is castration and removal of the ovaries. So it is possible. I don't know of anybody who has had both and gotten pregnant, but I know of vasectomy and tubal cases that have had pregnacies separately. I guess if you put the two together it is possible.

I recommend that you use a pregnancy test to be sure. Older vasectomy procedures may involve the tying of the vas deferens (the spermatic cord that delivers sperm during ejaculation), which is not 100% (usually about 85% success rate at preventing future pregnancies).





Regardless of the test result, I would still recommend that you go see a doctor ASAP!
I do not think you can get pregnant after he had a vasectomy, but there is a small chance that he could have produced one or two sperms. Although out of 1,000,000 sperms a baby is produced, you never really know. Try taking a pregnancy test, or just simply see a doctor.
It is extremely rare (especially since you both got it done), but it can happen. Take a pregnancy test to find out for sure.





My aunt got pregnant after my uncle had a vasectomy... and yes, she is his.

It is possible. But very, very, very, unlikely. Your body may have a chemical imbalance that has made your body think it is pregnant. This is much more likely the case.
When I had my vasectomy, my doctor warned me that there have been cases where the vas deferens healed itself. So as remote as it may seem, it is possible.
It lowers the risk by a lot. But it's still possible to get pregnant. There is no true fool prove method of sexual protection. Only abstinence works 100%.
I know someone that had their tubes tied and got pregnant because it wasn't done properly. It's possible, but a tube tie AND a vasectomy would make it really slim.
