How can my Husband Copyright songs that he has wrote?

My husband has wrote so many great songs and he is great at singing them. Now i would love for him to copyright them. I would love to figure out how to do it if anyone knows how ThanksHow can my Husband Copyright songs that he has wrote?
The instant a song is written (sheet music) or performed (audio music), the copyright is created. What is important in industry/monetary terms is how the copyright is protected.

There are 3 common ways to 'prove' copyright today:

1- The ';poor man'; copyright.

2- Posting on a personal website with a date/time stamp.

3- Registering with the US Copyright Office.

#1 is pretty simple, but it is not as effective in legal cases. Basically, you take a copy of the sheet music or audio on a CD, write the date of creation on it and mail/UPS/FedEx it to yourself, but DO NOT open the package. The date on the package is what's used as the 'copyright date' in any legal proceedings and when in court, you would open the package. Again, this isn't the preferred method, but it works in a pinch and for those that don't want to spend the money on the copyright through the US office.

#2 is easier. If you offer your music for free on your personal website, but date and time it was posted on the site (per server logs) can be used to determine copyright date. This method should only be used if you're offering the music for free... because if you're doing that, you likely don't enforce the copyright strictly.

#3 is the hardest of the 3, BUT it is the most official. You can file with the US Copyright Office (http://www.copyright.gov/register/), which is $35 and the date given is the official copyright date, which can be used in court.

#3 is the best method and most useful in court cases. But, if he's not selling the music, many will argue that it's not worth it to bother with a registered copyright. If he's selling the music digitally, there's many ways to prove copyright in court without an official record with the US office... it all depends on what he plans to do with the music. How can my Husband Copyright songs that he has wrote?
They have websites (some free, some you have to pay), but they have sites that you can submit your work to. Or I've heard of people mailing themselves a copy of whatever they wrote. I know, sounds weird, but I guess it works.. :) I've never tried it, but I have gotten my songs copyrighted from sites.
Mister B2 is absolutely correct (For the U.S.).

I will add that if he sends two bound volumes of any number of songs it is the same $35.00 as if he were to file each song individually, and each song is just as well protected.
From what I understand, they are already copyrighted.

The big issue is proof that he created them.

I figure it's a matter of sending copies of them by registered mail to yourself.
